NewAge ScienceFiction

I hope to read, and contemplate writing, an SF story about technologically competent, genomic engineering NewAge humans living in a fusion powered (solar reactor), hollowed out, waste~recycling asteriod who are under siege by aliens or by  an Empire of OldEarth. These people would combine, in harmonious whole, the togetherness and transcendent values of many of the 21^st century NewAge spiritual seeker groups with the science technical savvy found in academic-industrial corporations. They would, in some ways, be like Vulcans in the Star Trek franchise. (Spock was science officer onboard the Enterprise)...

In reality ,at present,  it seems to me, most members of these two groups on the planet do not understand the other`s language. On the one hand “Compassion”, “Nirvana”, on the other “vectors” and “diodes”....If one envisions, not science~fiction, but the remote possibility of an actual technologically sophisticated community of spiritually advanced humans in outer space who are not motivated by the old greeds and fears, the different worlds of advanced religious practice and technical science will somehow have to be practiced - not together which may be illogical - but in the same persons.....
